I’ve certainly noticed the lack of female cyclists in NYC, but I can’t say this article helps answer any of my questions about why, in a city with rapidly improving bike infrastructure, male cyclists still outnumber female cyclists 3 to 1. Ushahidi
A colleague of mine gave a talk last night on the crowd-source mapping tool Ushahidi (Swahili for “Testimony”). It’s an amazing open source tool originally developed to help visualize violence in Kenya based on reports from mobile devices. Since then it’s been used to track the spread of war or crime in many other areas, including the current conflict in Libya.
